Christmas Picture Postcards by Pauli Ebner

Pauline Ebner made an enormous amount of postcards including many Christmas themed. We'll present more than 20 of them but this is just a tiny share of all. To make the selection more transparent, the cards are divided into groups by dominant elements, characteristic of Christmas.

Each card can consist of several typical Christmas elements, so you'll probably find more than expected in every one of the presented groups. Enjoy the tour!

Angels

Angels clearly emphasize the religious part of the holiday. Paula Ebner portrayed them as children in costumes to kill two birds with one stone: stay faithful to children as her favorite subject and include angels.

Christmas Tree

Christmas tree is a central element of the celebration in many countries all over the world. Bringing it home, decorating it, and getting the presents under the Christmas tree are definitely adventures on their own. Even mere admiration of a decorated Christmas tree can be an unforgettable experience.

Playing Outside

Christmas is perfect for outside fun, especially if it's snowy. It is a relatively long holiday, often consisting of a full week or even ten days which brings us an opportunity to play outside with old friends and maybe know new ones.

Praying and Singing

Christmas is a religious holiday, so singing religious songs and praying is part of its charm. Choirs made of children are especially popular and can be traced way back, to Pagan times.

Presents

Christmas presents are one of the highlights of this popular holiday and kids can enjoy in expectation for a full year counting down to Christmas Eve. It's usually Christmas morning when the expectations are met - or not. The tension is here anyway.

Santa Claus

We can't imagine a proper Christmas without Santa Claus. Paula Ebner made a few cards with this figure as well.

Visits

By tradition, Christmas is a time for visiting friends and relatives for whom we often don't have time during the year. We can, of course, visit people we see all the time, too. Each visit brings joy, so we need to balance between giving and accepting them.
