Vintage Easter Postcards by Pauline Ebner

Pauline (Pauli) Ebner created numerous Easter cards with classic Easter symbols like colored eggs, bunnies, and lambs. She loved to draw pictures of children in different life situations. We made a selection of more than twenty Easter cards signed by Paula Ebner (sometimes just P. Ebner) to preserve her legacy for the younger generations.

While the custom of sending printed picture cards for Easter dropped in the last decades, just like all other stationery is slowly being replaced by digitized products, millions of people still celebrate Easter as the biggest Christian holiday. Sending cards is one of the traditions and you can participate in it by sending one or more of Pauli Ebner's Easter picture cards by e-mail or any other electronic channel.

Did You Know?

  • Eosturmonath (Latin) or Eostre's month) in an old name for the month of April.
  • Ostara(or Austro or Eostre) is the name of the Germanic spring goddess which led to the name of Easter as the holiday.
  • While the sales of picture cards are declining since World War 2 the American market for postcards alone is still worth around 8 billion dollars per year.
  • The majority of early Easter postcards featured religious motifs which were gradually replaced with more and more secular images (lamb belongs to both).
  • Messages in Easter cards changed too. Instead of religious sentiments greetings related to friendship and family became a preferred choice.
  • Modern Easter picture cards are often personalized or even handmade which makes them truly special.

* Another interesting trend in the industry of Easter postcards is eco-friendly cards.
